I don’t know how you plan your trips, but i love exploring tripadvisor. The attraction that topped the reviews in Bariloche is refugio Frey. Don’t ve mistaken it is not attraction you visit for an hour, but a hard core trek of 8 hours.
I took bus 55 from the city center to the Cathedral and started walking. The trek begins in a ski resort and takes you up to a crazy view point and laguna. As I walked on the trail i passed wonderful orange flowers, trees reaching out to the blue sky and passed the lakes i saw yesterday from the Campanairo. You come to a forest with a river stream where you can have lunch and rest, expecting snow white or little red riding hood pop up from behind the trees.
The last 2 hours are of steep climbing up, but when you come up you will find a laguna surrounded by steep mountain tops. It reminded me of Laguna de los tres in El Chalten. You will find a lot of climbers there and backpackers. Again it left me speachless, the beauty and mystery of this world.
Hard trek, but i can definitely get why it is number one in Bariloche. I loved walking among the flowers, lakes and stopping for a few moments, listening to the birds sing. They have one of the best homes on earth.
It looks absolutely gorgeous!
